  1. Sir Isaac Newton (1643¬≠1727) was an English mathematician and 
  2. physicist. He invented calculus and discovered several laws of physics. 
  3. His three laws of motion became the foundation of modern dynamics. 
  4. From them he derived the law of universal gravitation. His theories 
  5. established a system of natural science that has since dominated 
  6. Western thought.

  8. Newtonian (or classical) physics is concerned with objects that are 
  9. large in comparison to an atom and which move slower than the 
  10. speed of light. It is based on Isaac Newton‚Äôs three laws of motion 
  11. which set out a framework for studying the motion of objects and the 
  12. forces which act upon them.
